Questions about our ready-made tools.
Do these tools need an internet connection?
You need internet to open the tool — it loads in your browser. Once it's loaded, the sorting runs on your own computer, and no pupil data is ever transmitted to us or any third party.
Which MIS do your products support?
All major UK MIS — SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom, iSAMS, and others — can export data as CSV or Excel. Our tools import these standard formats, so you don't need a special connector or API key. If you have an unusual setup, contact us before purchasing.
Can I try before I buy?
We don't offer a trial, but you can contact us with any technical questions before purchasing — we'll answer honestly about whether it's a good fit for your setup.
How does the annual licence work?
You pay £450 per school per year (launch offer, normally £600). It's one shared account for your school — staff can sign in on any modern browser, with one person signed in at a time. Updates are included for the licence year. Access ends when the licence year is up; renew to carry on using the tool.
Pricing & billing
Questions about cost, invoices, and refunds.
Is the licence per device or per school?
Per school. One licence is a single shared account for the purchasing school, used on any computer with one person signed in at a time. Sharing the account outside your school, or with another school or trust, isn't permitted — for multi-school pricing, contact us.
Can we pay by purchase order / invoice?
Yes. We issue invoices for BACS payment with a 30-day payment term. Use the contact form and we'll set this up before you complete your order.
Do you charge VAT?
We are not currently VAT-registered, so no VAT is added to listed prices — what you see is what you pay.
What if I have a problem after purchasing?
Email hello@edatech.co.uk and we'll do our best to resolve it. If the tool isn't working as described, we want to know about it and will work with you to fix it.
Privacy & GDPR
Data protection questions — we take these seriously.
GDPR & Security Overview (PDF)How does your product handle UK GDPR?
Pupil data is processed locally within your browser and is not transferred to our servers. We therefore have no access to the files you analyse. This keeps the data flow simple and helps schools meet their GDPR obligations. For your DPO, download our GDPR & Security Overview (PDF) — it includes a DPIA support summary — or contact us for further details.
Do you store any of our pupil data?
No. We cannot access the files you analyse. Processing takes place locally on your machine within the browser session. We only store account information required to provide the service, such as email address, licensing and billing records. If you choose to download the output, the downloaded file is stored by your device or network according to your own policies.
Are you a data processor?
Because pupil data is processed locally within the browser and is not sent to our servers, we do not ordinarily act as a processor of pupil data when the tool is used as designed.
We have a strict network policy — will this break anything?
The tool loads from the web in your browser, then runs locally — once it has loaded it needs no further network access to sort your data. If your network is locked down and the page or its assets won't load, contact us and we can give your IT team the exact addresses to allow.
Consulting
Questions about bespoke project work.
How long does a consulting project typically take?
Simple analysis or a report template: 1–2 weeks. A custom tool: 2–6 weeks depending on scope. We give you a clear timeline as part of our quote so you can plan around it.
What data do you need access to?
Only what's necessary for the project. We agree the data-sharing terms in writing before starting, and everything is covered by a data processing agreement that meets UK GDPR requirements. You can share anonymised data for most analysis work.
What happens after the project is complete?
You get the full deliverable — code, reports, documentation, and a handover session. We don't retain your data once the project is closed. Ongoing support is available as a monthly retainer if needed.
Technical
Browsers, compatibility, and updates.
Do I need Python or any technical knowledge to use it?
No — there's nothing to install. The tool runs in your browser: open it from your dashboard in Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox. No Python, no downloads, no admin rights.
How do I get updates?
Updates apply automatically — because the tool runs in your browser, you always get the latest version the next time you open it. Nothing to download or reinstall.
The tool isn't working on our school network — what do I do?
Contact us at hello@edatech.co.uk with a description of the problem. Most issues are a content filter or firewall blocking the page or its web assets — we can give your IT team the exact addresses to allow.
